CAMERON HEALTH FOCUS
People, and interesting things to do, come first at the Cameron Recreation Centre, located in northeast Burnaby. This recreation centre has a seniors coffee lounge, snooker room, weight room complete with cardio and strength training equipment, a gymnasium, a library, and many programs and activities that are designed to improve the lives of seniors, including a Wednesday sandwich lunch program.
The Cameron Seniors Society, which operates out of the Cameron Recreation Centre, is proud to offer a unique wellness program for seniors called Health Focus. This program is offered once-a-month – in the morning of the second Wednesday of each month from 8:45-11:30am.
Here are some of the services that we offer:
- Blood Pressure Checks
- Height and Weight Checks
- Gentle Chair Massage
- Wellness Presentations
- Health information
- Peer Support
- Foot Care (a paid service by appointment)
Who runs this program?
A diverse team of volunteers keep the program operating, reaching a multi-cultural community. We motivate participants to take a pro-active role in their own well-being.
What is the cost?
The cost to seniors is by donation, except for the foot care, which is $31.
We love to see new faces – participants and volunteers alike! Come and join our Health Focus family and find out how much fun it is promoting wellness in your community.
The Cameron Recreation Centre has two parking lots with plenty of spaces. There is a lower parking lot on the west side of the building and an upper lot, which is also shared with the library. Health Focus takes place on the upper level of the building. We do not have an elevator, so please us the upper level lot for easy access to the program.
